I strive to create a patient-centered approach to care. I work together with my patient to create health goals and set priorities. In addition, my approach is to help develop and foster lasting relationships with patients and their families.
It's all about relationship building for Dr. Amuwo. She wants patients to feel like they have plenty of time to ask questions and get them answered.
"I like to create an open environment where patients feel comfortable discussing their concerns but don't feel like they are being interrogated," she said. "Through communication, I hope to motivate and guide them through their health challenges."
Dr. Amuwo chose internal medicine and pediatrics because she's interested in chronic diseases that start in childhood. It allows her to see patients of all ages and provide care to families that transcend generations.
"Seeing an entire family enhances trust," she said.
Dr. Amuwo loves spending time with family and friends and traveling to learn about new cultures.
