OSF HealthCare places the patient at the center of the care they receive, which is something Dr. Player appreciates.
"I am looking forward to working with the OSF family," he said. "The community of Pontiac has been very kind and welcoming."
Dr. Player said his father inspired him to pursue a medical career. "I wanted to emulate his passion in caring for others," he said.
Connecting with patients is important for Dr. Player.
"I suffered from acute inflammation of the gallbladder during my residency. I appreciate how much gallbladder surgery can improve a patient's quality of life," he said. "Every day in a small town general surgery practice is different. Occasionally, I am given the opportunity to profoundly improve another person's life."
Dr. Player grew up in Oswego, Illinois, where his parents still live and he visits frequently.
When not working, he enjoys tennis, cycling, home improvement projects, wood working with his dad and traveling.
