Deepa Sharma, MD, FACS, FASCRS, is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon. She serves as Chief of Colorectal Surgery and Medical Director of the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer at OSF Saint Francis.
Dr. Sharma completed her subspecialty fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Buffalo. She did her general surgery residency at Ascension Providence in Michigan.
Before moving to the United States, she was trained in the U.K. She is a member of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She has a Master of Philosophy from Cambridge University. She earned her medical degree at Kasturba Medical College in Mangalore, India.
She specializes in minimally invasive colon and rectal surgery. She treats various colorectal conditions, including colorectal cancers, diverticulitis, polyps, inflammatory bowel disease, rectal prolapse and anorectal disorders.
Dr. Sharma is known for her excellent judgment and compassionate care. She was voted "Top Doc Detroit" during her years in Michigan. Outside work, she likes to spend time with her husband, Sumit.
